De Shield of Faith cover art

Eminence is the gospel rap project of Paul DeShield, a Bermudian-born artist, theologian, and content creator based in San Francisco. De Shield of Faith is his official debut — a 9-track project that maps the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18) across songs documenting spiritual warfare, grief, identity, doubt, and transformation.

The title is a deliberate pun: DeShield (the artist's surname) fused with the Shield of Faith from Ephesians 6:16. The album contains 55 unique scripture references drawn from 24 books of the Bible, a complete line-by-line inventory of the Ephesians 6 armor, and two Bermudian cultural anchors — the Gombey drum tradition and the island's geographic specificity — that ground the theology in a place and identity no one else in gospel rap is claiming.

DeShield holds a Master's degree in Theology and has ministry experience in online ministry and media production. His theological training shows in the precision of the scriptural engagement — references are structural and exegetical, not decorative.
